Spices
Spices, 11×11 cm closed, 21×21 cm open. Each sheet of paper is coloured with suminagashi, the texts and photos are printed on top, each folded as a Turkish map and bound between two envelopes.

Fourth Book of Dreams: The dream of flying has always fascinated us. But how can it succeed, this soaring into the air, this leaving everything below? The myth of Daedalus and his son Icarus tells of the desire to free oneself from the laws of gravity, of ingenious invention and the bitter fall to one’s death. Will it be possible to tell a different story about Icaria? To dream?
The Art of Flying

Wait for a night with a clear sky that is not shaded by clouds.
Don’t close your curtains completely, leave them slightly open.
When the moonlight touches your eyelids, get up.
Follow the line of silvery light to the window, all the way up to the windowsill.
Wait for the feathers to grow. Give them time.
Feel that strange lightness in the pit of your stomach. It is a sign.
Step out onto the glittering path of moonlight.
Do not leave it under any circumstances.
Check whether the ray of light is carrying you.
Feel the updraft beneath your full wings and spread them wide.
Then push off and soar up into the dark skies.
Rise higher and higher until space and time tips over and the sun warms your wings under blue skies.
But be careful: don’t rise too high!
Your fall will be deep with burnt wings …
